Father's Day

It's often occurred to me that my mom, if she were still here, would absolutely LOVE to see Megan being such a great mother to Little Robert and Lyric. She would really get a kick out of how much she loves them and takes such good care of them. She would be SO proud of Megan.

But yesterday I got to thinking how great it would be if my dad, if he were still here, could see the same things. Oh, he'd be proud of what a great mom Megan has turned out to be to kids she didn't even give birth to, but I think also he'd get a huge kick out of Little Robert (and Lyric) himself.

Lyric, is just such a cute bundle of happiness (when she isn't hungry of course, and if she is hungry, you'd better keep track of your fingers). She's all smiles and sunshine and just has the best disposition.

Little Robert is a pretty cool little kid too, and I'm not saying he's MORE intelligent than Lyric, but it's just a different intelligence.

For instance my dad would have gotten a huge kick out of the fact that Little Robert, at the age of 2 can kick off his shoes and hook his toes in the chain link fence and climb up it and down the other side. Or that he can climb... most anything, trees, shelves, up cabinets. It's not uncommon to look up and see him walking along the back of the couch.

Lyric is a "new soul". She truly revels in watching things just to see how they work, like she's never seen them before, like you would think most babies should. Everything is just new and fresh to her.

Little Robert on the other hand is much more of an "old soul." He pays attention to things, but in just a short time you get the sense that he's seen it before, done it before and he wants to move on to something else, not to be confused with ADD or ADHD. He just catches on to things REALLY fast and then he wants to move on. He has little fear of things like heights, etc. And his vocabulary has just exploded recently. Everytime I see him she says 20 new words and is working them into sentences. He also LOVES books, loves to look at them and has NEVER torn the pages, like he just KNOWS that books are to be looked at and it's just never occurred to him to tear the pages.

My dad would really enjoy these kids if he could see them.
