Pumpkin Painting Party '08

A few of the families in our neighborhood got together this year and had a pumpkin painting party.

At 11am this morning we met at Wesley United Methodist Church's Pumpkin Patch (they have it every year). Neither Rita or Ike stopped it.

This is what the group of kids looked like. Parents really didn't want to be photographed. Lyric and Robert are on the right.

To get started, first you have to pick your pumpkin...

This was the one Lyric chose, she knew what she wanted right away and stuck with it the whole time.

But you can't blame a girl for shopping around... just to be sure.

Robert started out with a tiny one, but Lyric's was tiny too...

So we figure he upgraded to a pumpkin that was worthy of his stature as a "Big Brother." Not bigger than he could carry, but not a "baby" pumpkin either.

We paid for the pumpkins (the BIG one is Mamie's pumpkin) and then it was off to the car in style. WUMC has these wagons just for the pumpkin patch and one of the kids working at WUMC pulled the wagon for the kids (and for Megan and I) all the way to the parking lot.

Then it was home and time to paint the pumpkins. Robert was really getting into it.

Lyric was clearly there for the buffet.

Though she did get into it finally.

We did not get good pictures of the finished products, we were all just too tired. It's difficult to see Robert's pumpkin clearly, but it is a one-of-a-kind work of art. Done in blue, green, and black and yes, those are feathers on top.
