Meet Nilli...
Spouse and I went to Petco Saturday to get dogfood, catfood and other pet supplies as part of our weekly errands. PAWS ( http://pawsdogrescue.org/default.aspx)%20was ) was there adopting out pets and this is where we found Nilli.
If you look quick she is/was their pet of the week: http://pawsdogrescue.org/PetoftheWeek.aspx
Nilli was rescued at 4 months of age from a pound in Woodville, Tx. A place that keeps animals (any and all animals) for 3 days and then euthanizes them. Nilli has been with PAWS for just about a year.
She is a Hound mix, but mixed with what is anyone's guess. She is a real sweetheart. Very gentle, and has been a model guest while she is here.
Officially we have her for a "trial" period to see if she fits in well with our dogs. It's going great. She's very laid back. The first 24 hours were a little rocky, but Oscar and Chloe have accepted her now and I really don't see any circumstance where we don't keep her.
Of course cats are cats and dogs are dogs and while that makes no difference what so ever to Nilli, Nicky and Pressley aren't taking it so well...
When they aren't hissing at her and slapping at her they are staring at her...
But come on Nicky, tell us what you really think of Nilli.
Even through the window Nicky is just not charmed by Nilli.
Why Nilli, why now? I tried two years ago to get Spouse on board with getting a new dog. Oscar is not getting any younger. As a matter of fact he will be 13 years old on March 22 and he has health issues. But we just never got around to even looking at another dog.
I think it kind of hit him when Megan and Gary had to have Biscuit put to sleep, that one day we could wake up and Oscar not be around. We really want Oscar and Chloe to kind of train the next dog. A phenomonon we experienced when Oscar came along. Without our even knowing it Shadow kind of trained Oscar and Chloe on "yard protocal," (i.e. who to bark at, or not bark at and when). So we're hoping now that Oscar and Chloe will kind of train Nilli in "yard protocal."
